In 1999, Studio Nicholson founder and creative director Nick Wakeman travelled to Tokyo for the very first time. Her early experiences cemented what would become a lifelong attachment to Japanese street style and culture. SNJP is a unisex line of vertically made Japanese product and is the result of building trusted relationships with speciality manufacturers and fabric mills in Japan, designed with youthful energy and blurred boundaries at the core. Japanese fabric has a unique handle by way of yarn, looms, wash and finish –blending centuries of tradition with cutting-edge technology. With a colour palette that is deliberately ambiguous, advanced finishes on fabrics result in an additional sensory layer – salt induced shrinkages, typewriter cottons, dense Corduras and washi paper fabrics bring fresh crumple and crunch for a more casual approach to the modular wardrobe.
