Beijing Store Opens

The new Beijing store showcases Studio Nicholson's women's and men's ready-to-wear and accessories collections, defined by a modern interpretation of archetypal styles crafted in exceptional fabrics and the brand's signature silhouettes. Designed so that architecture, product and customer experience exist in harmony, the immersive space continues the luxury retail concept developed by Founder and Creative Director Nick Wakeman, which debuted with the brand's Shanghai opening in January 2026. The new space builds on Studio Nicholson's gallery-meets-residential store concept, evoking the warmth and familiar calm of home through the contrast of negative space and the elimination of visual noise.

"Beijing has such a strong architectural identity of its own, and I wanted the store to feel like it belonged here rather than simply arriving from London. I felt the store should be a space where customers could slow down rather than just shop, and I kept returning to the idea of discovery, room by room, which became the starting point for the whole layout. The soft palettes of cherry wood and stone throughout are a gentle nod to that - materials that feel considered and honest, rather than decorative."

- Nick Wakeman, Studio Nicholson Founder and Creative Director

The material palette is intentionally raw, applying the focus on natural textures for their honest, unpolished character. Heavy marble travertine, grooved stone, natural cherry wood and polished stainless steel combine to create a pared-back yet tactile environment atypical of Studio Nicholson's uncompromising approach to material as echoed in their seasonal collections.

Upon entering the store over deep black slate tiles, a bold natural travertine table in light grey sits centrally, stretching over four metres into the space, surrounded by neatly arranged dark walnut Chandigarh office chairs by Pierre Jeanneret. Womenswear and menswear collections are housed throughout on built-in polished stainless steel rails, whilst the flooring is rendered in a textured pale grey micro-cement.

The primary retail area, with polished concrete flooring, presents the new Autumn Winter 2026 ready-to-wear collections within a bright and open environment defined by architecturally clean lines, mixed textiles and a muted colour palette of stone grey, charcoal, travertine slate, and warm cherry brown.

Curated to encourage a more relaxed and personal browsing journey, the adjoining accessories lounge is furnished with objects crafted from natural materials and inspired by organic forms, creating a warmer, more intimate atmosphere. Reinforcing this sense of ease, the till point is positioned discreetly within the space, deliberately removing the traditional transactional focus and allowing customers to explore freely and without interruption.

The store's exterior is crafted from deep grooved Xinjiang textural stone, its combination of horizontal and vertical lines establishing a quiet architectural rhythm. These same grooves feature inside the store, where carefully positioned shelving divides the womenswear and menswear areas. The Studio Nicholson unisex and Continuity capsule is placed at the centre of the store, showcasing the brand's signature, genderless collections. Moving further into the store, the atmosphere shifts into a quieter room dedicated to accessories, offering a more intimate and considered experience. Surrounded by warm natural cherry wood shelving, soft neutral-coloured rugs, a Hans J. Wegner daybed and a curated selection of books curated by Nick Wakeman, the space draws on the familiarity of a residential interior.

Footwear, leather handbags and accessories are presented on low pared-back cherry wood plinths and a small raw-edge travertine table, next to sourced sculptures and objects, complemented by a collection of handcrafted blackened-wood props sourced for the Beijing flagship. Inspired by ancient Chinese courtyards, imperial architecture and vintage domestic objects, these pieces speak to the strength and tradition of Beijing.

Slate tiling flooring continues into the accessories lounge and two discreetly concealed fitting rooms, where pale linen chairs complete a considered and elegant aesthetic.

Studio Nicholson Visual Rebrand

Alongside its new Beijing flagship and debut Paris Fashion Week runway show, Studio Nicholson unveils a refreshed visual identity, marking a new chapter in the brand's evolution and its continued growth within the luxury landscape. Founded in 2010 on a philosophy of refining, updating and perfecting the classics, Studio Nicholson's new identity brings a stronger expression of the brand's character while preserving its signature purity and
restraint. The updated logo, paired with the well-spaced serif typeface Antique No. 6 by Paul Barnes, inspired by a British typeface first introduced in the 19th century, reinforces Studio Nicholson's position as an established British brand - honest, unfussy, sophisticated and effortlessly confident.
