STEPS TO MODULARITY - FOOTWEAR LAUNCH

Modularity isn’t complete without footwear. They bring soul and substance to everything we wear. Shoes are the punctuation mark on a perfectly constructed sentence, the finishing touch, a window to the soul. Everyone can relate to an outfit that’s been ruined (or enhanced) by the perfect pair, which cements the notion that they’re probably one of the most personality-exposing things we own.

The time has come for Studio Nicholson to scratch that itch. November 2021 sees the launch of the eagerly awaited modular footwear, for men and women. To begin, there are three styles that promise to tick all the boxes of functionality, comfort, and playfulness. Made in Portugal, they have been intelligently designed to work in seasonless harmony with the everyday molecules.

The Wearing takes ergonomics to a luxurious new level. Made from 100% German leather, this round-toed clog style gives a confident nod towards institutional uniforms. With a leather-covered footbed engineered to give total arch support, the unisex Wearing celebrates utilitarian elegance and ease. Slip-on, slip off, these deceptively lightweight clogs with a hardwearing and durable rubber sole are manufactured for modern city living. Available in Milk and Black, the simplicity of this backless shoe shouldn’t be underestimated.

Delicacy and sophistication are the names of the game for Corris. Inspired by Studio Nicholson founder Nick Wakeman’s trips to visit friends in Kyoto, Japan, this supple house slipper style with flexible rubber sole can be worn folded down at the back or worn up with a sock. Available in Black, Dove, or Navy these supersoft envelopes of Italian Nappa leather are the shoe equivalent of a clutch bag, bringing a timeless femininity to any outfit.

Height is introduced with the Tate. A stripped-back mule constructed using traditional welting techniques (made from leather, as opposed to the more commonly used rubber welt) this fine grade Italian calf leather slip-on has an archetypal 90s silhouette. With a block heel for easy striding and total comfort, they transform the look of a volume pant, by offering a subtle lift to the ankle and lower calf. Available in Black or Whiskey, the Tate takes you to places that a plimsoll doesn’t. These aren’t shoes. This is attitude – for feet.
