Studio Nicholson x BEAMS Plus

Studio Nicholson and BEAMS Plus launch their debut collaboration, rich with a cast of modernised silhouettes, playful proportions and exceptional textiles.

A collection theme was developed in collaboration with Nick Wakeman, Creative Director and Founder of Studio Nicholson, and BEAMS Plus’ Hideki Mizobata, each sharing a love of 70s film characters and moodboard heroes. Oversized raincoats pair with roomy double-pleat chinos, while loopback sweatshirts are worn with striped cotton Oxford shirts - think Columbo, George Peppard and Annie Hall.

Studio Nicholson's sophisticated and refined approach to perfecting the classics has been combined with BEAMS Plus' heritage and meticulous attention to Japanese craft, resulting in a 19-piece 'Made in Japan' menswear capsule. In keeping with Studio Nicholson’s uncompromising commitment to fabrication, always prioritising the best fit-for-purpose materials; all garments have been meticulously crafted using the finest Japanese fabric, mills and manufacturing methods.

Menswear classics play a central role in the collaboration, reinvigorating styles and modernising the details. The ‘Peter’ trench coat, made from a water-repellent gabardine twill, showcases a signature Studio Nicholson silhouette with its volume dialled up to the max. Hand-glued by Japanese artisans, the generously tailored darkest navy raincoat features a subtle soft cotton poplin check lining, typical of BEAMS Plus’ Ivy League design codes.

The polished ’Paul’ sports blazer in charcoal marl and darkest navy has been produced in a super high-density tropical wool. It marries Studio Nicholson’s soft and relaxed take on tailoring with BEAMS Plus’ neo-prep detailing, with oversized pockets meeting gold Americana-inspired button fastenings.

A gentle nod to silver screen icon Alvy Singer sees the ‘Alvy’ double pleat pant as well as the ‘Paul’ sports blazer, each crafted in a supple toffee corduroy tailoring set. The purposefully roomy pant is also realised in a breathable tropical wool and a crisp, durable cotton twill, arriving in a versatile tan, cream, charcoal marl and darkest navy.

Clean and sophisticated, the ‘Lisa’ shirt takes the perennial wardrobe Oxford and updates it. Relaxed and deliberately exaggerated in cut, with oversized detailing, the shirt arrives in vibrant prep colourways – optic white, chalky pink and a studious brown/white stripe.

Proportions remain paramount. The wide leg ‘Holly’ denim pant is crafted in the famed denim region of Okayama in Japan. To ensure strength and durability, the blended raw cotton is woven slowly, on a bespoke shuttle loom. Arriving in a faded wash and indigo, the balloon-shaped pant has a classic 5-rivet pocket with the back side of the coin pocket intricately produced in a selvedge denim adorned with a co-branded leather patch. The supple lightweight denim is also seen in the ‘Lisa’ Oxford shirt in faded wash.

A modern approach to the classic athletic crewneck, the ‘Golightly’ loopback jersey sweat champions shape with its dropped shoulders and a subtle gusset detailing. Produced in grey marl and darkest navy, the sweatshirt is made from an exceptionally soft cotton loopback fabric.
