Podcast Ep 002: 10 questions with Nick Wakeman & Aaron Levine

For Winter 2025 Studio Nicholson have invited menswear consultant and designer Aaron Levine to collaborate on their seasonal Module capsule collection.

This is the first time in their 15 years that the brand has embarked on such a collaborative approach to one of their regular collections. It results in a 26 piece men’s collection that brings together an effortless meeting of Wakeman and Levine’s creative minds.

Earlier this month, for the second episode of the Studio Nicholson podcast, the pair sat down in Shoreditch with Simon Chilvers to answer 10 questions designed to unpick this collaboration. “We have a shared philosophy of what we want to make,” says Levine. “I prefer that the things I make be usable, like a hammer, or a tool. And I see that in Nick’s work, but in a supremely sophisticated and refined way.”

“I don’t want things to be wasteful. Sometimes I don’t see the purposefulness in fashion,” says Wakeman. “It’s really important for clothing to be purposeful and beautiful. Modernising classics is my thing. I can’t stand frippery. I can’t stand embellishment or nonsense. But neither can Aaron, but he does have more of an adventurous side than me sometimes.”

"I think you can change the way you feel with clothes."

Studio Nicholson was founded in 2010, by Nick Wakeman who is obsessed with fabrics. She prefers clothes to fashion and has been making them all of her life. She started as a child making garments with her mother.

Similarly, Levine says he has loved clothing since the age of 4. When he was small he would lay things out on the floor in vignettes, not even to wear, but just to see how everything looked together. He has worked for several brands, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Club Monaco, Madewell and Vince, before striking out with his own brand in 2024.

The Winter ‘25 Module Collection will launch to Studio Nicholson Loyalty System members on Monday 27th October with a public launch on Wednesday 29th October.
